The department of Biochemistry is an independent department from July 1976.
The department undertakes teaching programmes of various courses like MBBS, BDS, B-Sc. Nursing and B.P.T., of about 450 students.
The postgraduate are also working under the guidance of the department, for various thesis in clinical subjects.
A few number of scientific publications are also in the credit of the department and about 45-48 scientific paper presented in national and international conferences.
The department of Biochemistry is providing round the clock services to the M.Y. Hospital through clinical Biochemistry Labs and various biochemical investigations are carried out daily in the labs like blood sugar, blood urea, cholesterol, SGOT, SGPT, alkaline phosphate, acid phosphate, CA, P, uric acid etc. with the help of sophisticated instruments like RASO.
